Here are more reads for the month of June. I’d like to feature authors from different backgrounds and countries so if you have any suggestions, please email me or leave a comment and I’ll add it to the TBR pile!
Defy the Stars by Claudia Gray
Boy meets girl – sort of. Actually, it’s high tech boy robot infused with human DNA meets fully human girl soldier in the middle of an intergalactic war. And they happen to be on opposing sides. But when does a machine cross the line to becoming fully human or having a soul? Would recommend for those who like exploring issues of free will.

The Serpent’s Secret by Sayantani DasGupta
It’s not every day that your parents disappear and you have to escape a hungry rakkhosh demon in your kitchen. Throw in a couple of Indian princes, a magical world where maps move, a rapacious the Serpent King and a sweet but annoying talking bird. Would recommend for middle graders as a fun way of exploring the myths and creatures from another culture.

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
A fantasy heist novel. The crew is made up of a crime lord in waiting with a personal vendetta, a Wraith spy and enemies who want to be lovers. The prize is the scientist who can make a drug that magnifies and warps the powers of the Grisha. It’s young adult but the characters feel very adult – it’s an awesome read though.
